What are plantation shutters?
Plantation shutters are interior blinds traditionally made from broad slats of wood mounted in a solid frame.
The design promotes the free flow of air through a structure in a warm climate, while also creating shade to keep the interior of the structure cool. You may also hear them referred to as louvres or jalousies, and they come in a range of shapes and sizes to conform with variously-shaped windows and doors.

Why should you install plantation shutters?
Plantation shutters have long been a popular window treatment in homes across Australia. According to a recent survey, an estimated 70% of homeowners choose plantation shutters to protect their homes from the sun and improve their privacy. Not only do they provide protection and privacy, but they also provide a host of benefits that other window treatments simply can’t match.
Plantation shutters are extremely versatile and can be used in any room of the house. They can be hung inside the window frame or mounted outside the frame, and they come in a variety of styles and colors to suit any décor.
Second, they are also very practical. They provide excellent light control and can be easily opened or closed to adjust the amount of light and air flow in a room. In addition, plantation shutters help to insulate your home by trapping heat in the winter and keeping cool air in during the summer.
Finally, plantation shutters are very easy to care for. Unlike curtains or drapes, they don’t need to be regularly dry-cleaned or replaced. A simple dusting with a soft cloth is all they require to keep them looking like new, and they’re durable enough to withstand years of use.

For example, basswood and plantation shutters PVC are both great choices for many homes. But each type of shutter has its own benefits and drawbacks.
The first factor to consider is the material. Basswood and polymer (ecowood) are the most popular choices. But there are also Paulownia series and aluminium options available.
